The mountain-area 55-plus program meets in the Loma Prieta Community Room, 23845 Summit Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join us for games, puzzles, and conversation.

Wednesday, August 8
Los Gatos Birdwatcher offers a 60-minute bird walk for children ages 5 through 12 at Rinconada Park in Los Gatos, from 11 a.m. to noon. Birds will be viewed through high-powered spotting scopes. Space is limited. Call 408-358-9453 to reserve your child’s spot. Fee: $10

Friday, August 10
The Loma Prieta Community Foundation shows final summer movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off at 8 p.m., in the Loma Prieta Redwood Amphitheater, next to the Loma Prieta Playfield at 23845 Summit Road.The movies are free. Popcorn, candy, and drinks will be for sale.

Saturday, August 11
Join Los Gatos Birdwatcher for a morning on the Bay looking for Caspian Tern, Forster’s Tern, plus Least and Black Terns. The tour will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 408-358-9453 to sign up. Fee: $35

John Leopold hosts a summit constituent meeting, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in the Loma Prieta Community Room, 23845 Summit Road.

Thursday, August 16
Los Gatos hosts its final “Third Thursday” block party, from 5 to 9 p.m. Enjoy live music, street performances, and fun for the whole family at Town Plaza Park, Grays Lane (Loma Brewing Company), and Old Town. Shops will stay open until 8 p.m.

First day of school for Loma Prieta Elementary, Lexington Elementary, C.T. English Middle, and Los Gatos High schools.

Sunday, August 26
Mountain Bible Church welcomes you to the Gazebo on the Loma Prieta Playfield on Summit Road, beginning at 10 a.m., to hear acoustic music, stories for children, and reflections from the scriptures. You can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy.

Saturday, September 15
